1 cup molasses
1 cup shortening (crisco)
1 cup sugar
½ cup boiling water
1 egg
5 cups sifted flour (add ½ cup more if needed)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add molasses and egg. Mix well
Add the dry ingredients and boiling water alternately.
Mix well.
Roll out and cut shapes with cookie cutter
Bake at 375º for 506 minutes or light brown
Cookies are good iced when cool
