650 g. lean ground beef
¼ cup diced onion
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
1 large egg, fork beaten
⅔ cup uncooked long grain converted rice
½ cup fine bread crumbs
2 tbsp. milk

3 cups tomato juice
1 cup water
1 tsp. sugar
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the first eight ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. Shape into balls. Place in small slow-cooker.
Pour juice and water in a bowl. Add sugar and the second amount of salt. Stir, then pour over meatballs.
Cook on low for about 7 hours, or on high for about 3½ hours.

Since these meatballs contain meat and rice, it's sometimes tricky to know what to serve with them. I usually make peas and garlic bread.
