2 young chicken fryers, cut up
2 pkg dry onion soup mix
1½ c uncooked rice, white or brown
2 cans cream of chicken soup (or 2 cans cream of mushroom soup)
3 soup cans water
1 large can of drained sliced mushrooms
½ t salt for chicken
½ t pepper for chicken

Directions:

Season chicken and brown lightly. Mix remaining ingredients together and place into a large (4 qt) roasting pan or deep 9 x 13 inch casserole dish. Arrange chicken on top of rice. Cover with lid or foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1½ hours. Remove lid or foil and bake for 20 to 30 minutes longer until chicken is tender and rice is done and creamy.
