1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped fine
4 carrots, chopped fine
Pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp. Thyme leaves
3 sticks celery, chopped fine
2 cups water
3 cans consommé or beef broth
1 can tomato soup
1 bay leaf
8 tbsp. Barley (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat and onions, drain well. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Simmer covered at least 2 hours. This soup freezes well.

You can also add potatoes, macaroni in place of barley, zucchini or any vegetable you like.
