Directions:Add above ingredients to pot, set on med temp. Stir occasionally to melt butter and incorporate the dissolving sugar. Once mixture comes to SLOW boil, leave it be, you do not stir. . .Watch... When color of mixture becomes like a medium caramel color, remove from heat, and pour onto small cookie sheet (with sides). Let cool for several minutes, then add 1½ Hershey chocolate bars (broken apart) gently on top of candy. Let it set for another minute, then gently spread over top of toffee. Can leave as is, or add chopped nuts over top of chocolate. Once cooled, break apart and enjoy. . . |

Notes: This is a recipe that is well loved by many friends and family. It is easy to make, but you do have to pay attention to the color change from a light yellow to a nice medium caramel brown. If the color is too light, your toffee may come out a bit "tacky". Will taste good, but tend to stick to teeth. If color gets too dark brown, it will have a bit of a burnt flavor. Just trust your instinct, and make sure your temps on the stove are not too high. You do not want to burn your toffee. Patience is a virtue and pays off in the end. Have your pan on a heat safe surface and ready for pouring your candy out of the pot.
