2 lbs butter
2 c brown sugar
8 eggs
4 c flour
2 tbsp baking powder
1/2 c thick sour cream (full fat)
1/4 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp mace
1 kg seeded raisins
1 kg seedless raisins
1 kg currants
1 kg dates
228 gm mixed peel
228 gm almonds
large bottle of red cherries (well drained)

You will need a very large bowl in the end.
Cream butter and sugar together well, stir in fruits and nuts in the largest bowl. Sift dry ingredients with flour. Beat eggs and add cream in which soda has been stirred. Add flour mixtue alternately with egg and cream mixture to first part.
Line tins (1 each large, medium, small) that bottom comes out of with two layers of waxed paper. Put tins in a large roasting pan on top of mason jar lid rings with water up to just below the top of the lids.
Bake at 300º for 3 1/2 hours
