6 lbs fresh mushrooms, sliced
3 onions, chopped
1 cup butter
3-2 oz box of onion soup

Directions:
Directions:
Sauté onions and butter in 12 quart pot. Add mushrooms, cook until soft. Fill pot with water and add soup mix. Bring to boil and simmer for about 4 hours.

To make smaller pot, 4˝ quart, use 2 onions, ˝ cup butter, 4 oz onion soup mix and 4 lbs mushrooms.

Originated from Anna Ostrowski, mother of Sophie Dubiel, they made this soup every Christmas Eve and now we do the same. This was one of our main dishes because the Polish/Catholic tradition is not to eat meat on Christmas Eve.
