1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
40 salted saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
1 package (2 cups) milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips
optional : chopped nuts, sprinkles, or candy (M&M

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Line large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread the crackers in a single layer touching each other and fold up edges of foil to box crackers inside and set aside.

Melt butter and brown sugar in saucepan over medium heat. Simmer 5 minutes stirring constantly. Immediately pour over crackers and spread completely to cover.
Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the crackers.

Let stand for 2 to 4 minutes until chocolate has melted, then spread evenly over brown sugar mixture (toffee)
If not soft enough to spread, return to oven for a minute.

Top with any additional topping (sprinkles, nuts, M&M's)
Chill in refrigerator for about 2 hours to harden.
Peel away foil and break into pieces.

Note: Store in airtight container at room temperature for 1 week or in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Can place in Ziploc bags and freeze up to 1 month.
