4 c shredded cabbage, cooked
½ c chopped onion, optional
3 T butter or margarine
3 T flour
½ t salt
⅛ t pepper
1½ c milk
½ c shredded Mozzarella cheese
½ c shredded cheddar cheese
1 c buttered bread crumbs or cracker crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Cook shredded cabbage with onion and a little water in a covered pan for about 7 minutes. Remove from pan and drain well. Set aside. Melt butter or margarine over low heat in saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper; stir until smooth. Stir in milk. Bring to boil for one minute, stirring constantly and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes. In a 2-quart buttered casserole dish, alternate layers of half the cabbage, Mozzarella cheese, and half warm white sauce. Repeat layers with cheddar cheese. Top with the buttered crumbs. (To make crumbs, melt about 2 T butter or margarine in fry pan; add crumbs and stir a few minutes until lightly browned. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, uncovered.
