FAMILY STORY - GRAPE LEAVES IN PICKLE JARS

Nina Wolf Dubes said: "This is a recipe both my grandmother, Anna Margaret, and my mother, Helen, used. They would put a grape leaf in each jar to keep the pickles from softening.

As a little girl I loved to go into Grandma and Grandpa’s basement because it smelled of several distinct homemade staples – soap, German sausage, dill pickles, and other pickled items such as watermelon and crab apples."
