1½ cups smooth peanut butter
½ cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
16 oz. icing sugar, sifted (powdered sugar)
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp. Crisco shortening

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix peanut butter, butter, vanilla and sugar into balls, then chill. (Roll balls in hands using about 1 tsp. of mixture for each buckeye.)

2. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in microwave for about 60 to 90 seconds until soft. You may also melt in double boiler.

3. Dip chilled balls into chocolate mix using toothpicks. When dipping, leave a small amount of peanut butter top exposed.

4. Put into small paper liners.

Buckeyes are similar to peanut butter balls, which are completely covered in chocolate. Named for their resemblance to the nut of the Ohio buckeye tree, the state tree of Ohio.
