Cake
1⅓C All purpose flour
1 C sugar
2½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
½C shortening
⅔ C milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Topping
½ C chocolate syrup
½ C warm water
½ C sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, except topping. Blend well at low speed; beat 2 minutes at medium speed scraping sides of bowl. Spread batter evenly in greased 2-quart deep casserole. Spoon topping evenly over batter. Bake at 350º or 40-50 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool to 2 minutes. Loosen edges with a knife.
