1 cup flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup applesauce
1 egg

ICING
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons butter
About 1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease oblong pan. Mix all ingredients except icing. Spread in pan. Bake about 25 minutes. Cool. Frost with brown butter icing. Cut into bars 3 x 1”. Makes 32 bars.

Brown Butter Icing: heat butter in saucepan over medium heat until delicate brown. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar, vanilla and milk. Beat until frosting is smooth and spreadable, spread on bars.
