2 c sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
¾ tsp cinnamon
⅛ tsp nutmeg
⅛ tsp cloves
⅛ tsp allspice
½ c brown sugar packed
2 eggs beaten
½ c molasses
1 c buttermilk
½ c melted shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and sift dry ingredients. Combine eggs, molasses, buttermilk and shortening, gradually add dry mixture, beating thoroughly. Bake in 9" square pan @ 350ºF for 45 minutes.

Or add ¾ c rasins, rinsed in hot water. Bake in muffin tins or handy paper cups reducing heat. These are good simply groken open and buttered.
