Dough:
1 c sugar
1 c scalded milk
1 c warm water
½ c shortening
1 T salt
2 eggs
1 yeast, dry or cake
6 - 7 c flour

Crumb Mixture:
1 cube butter
1 c sugar
1 c flour

Custard Topping:
3 eggs
1½ c half & half
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Dash of salt
2 T sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk. Melt shortening in hot milk. Add sugar and salt to mixture. Dissolve yeast in warm water. When milk is cool enough add to yeast mixture. Add eggs. Add flour, thoroughly knead dough. Set dough aside to raise to double size. Punch down. Press out in greased pan. Let raise. Add fruit and desired toppings on top of dough.

To make crumbs, mix ingredients until crumbly. Put on dough.

To make custard topping, beat eggs. Mix all ingredients and spoon on finished kuchen before baking.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 30 minutes.
