1 c sugar
1 c flour
2 t baking powder
¾ c milk
½ c butter or margarine
1 can pie cherries (or 2 c sliced peaches or 2 c or more rhubarb or sliced apples or sliced pear)
Cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice
¾ c sugar for fruit

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to melt butter or margarine in a 9 x 12 inch baking pan. Mix dry ingredients. Take the baking pan out of the oven when butter is melted. Pour dry mixture over the melted butter. DO NOT STIR. Pour your choice of fruit over the mixture. Sprinkle ¾ c sugar with cinnamon, or nutmeg, or allspice, on fruit. DO NOT STIR. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes (if canned fruit is used) to 1 hour (if fresh fruit is used).
