Kartoffel:

4 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
2 slices bread, crumbled and dried
1½ cubes margarine (or butter)

Klace (Kloesse):

2 eggs, beaten
½ t salt
½ c water
½ c flour, enough to make medium soft dough

Directions:
Directions:
Kartoffel Und Kloesse is called Potatoes and Dough (or Dumplings) in English. Make the kloesse. Combine eggs, salt, water and flour. Combine and beat slightly with a wooden spoon, adding flour to make the dough (kloesse).

Make the kartoffel. Prepare potatoes and put in a 2-qt sauce pan. Cover with enough water to cover them well. When potatoes are about half cooked, drop in the kloesse by snipping with scissors, making the pieces teaspoonful size. Boil about 15 minutes or until potatoes are done. When kartoffel and kloesse are cooked, drain off water. Place in a large bowl. Immediately stir in 1 cube of margarine (or butter) and gently stir until coated well. Brown the bread crumbs by putting the crumbled slices of bread in a pan. Melt ½ cube margarine (or butter). Stir in the two slices of crumbled bread until well browned. Add to bowl.
