SALAD:
¼ c. sliced almonds
1 tbsp. + 1 tsp. sugar
¼ head lettuce, bite-sized pieces
¼ bunch Romaine lettuce, bite-sized pieces
1 c. chopped celery
2 green onions (with tops), thin slices
11 oz. mandarin orange segments, drained OR 12 oz. pineapple chunks
SWEET-SOUR DRESSING:
¼ c. vegetable oil
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. snipped parsley
½ tsp. salt
Dash pepper
Dash red pepper sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cook almonds and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is melted and almonds are coated. Cool and break apart. Store at room temperature. Mix lettuces, celery and onions. For dressing, shake all ingredients in tightly covered jar and refrigerate. At serving time, arrange on plates and spoon on dressing. Top with oranges and almonds. Serves 4-6.
