1 cup Shortening
2 cups Brown Sugar
2 Eggs, well beaten
3 ½ cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Dates, chopped
1 cup Chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar then mix all remaining ingredients together. Shape into 3 rolls and chill. Then slice and bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350º oven for about 10 minutes. Dough will keep for some time if wrapped in wax paper and kept in refrigerator.
