Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1½-2 lb ground beef
4-5 slices bread
1 large egg, beaten
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded or sliced
6 tbsp ketchup

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
In a large bowl blend ground beef, egg, salt, pepper and bread that has been wet with water and shredded into small pieces.

Place half the mixture into a loaf pan and cover with the cheese. Add the remaining meat mixture and shape into a smooth loaf, pulling it away from the sides of the pan. This gives juices room to pool while cooking.

Cook for 50 min. Remove from oven and smear ketchup on top after pouring off the juice. Return to oven for 10 min (+) to brown.

Note: when pulling the meat away from the sides of the pan, I would indent the loaf into portions (with my fingers) to enable a quicker and more thorough bake.

Personal Notes:
This is a really easy recipe. You can use stale bread, croutons, or any other type bread you have.
