8 tart apples, Granny Smith recommended
1/2 to 1 c. sugar
1 t. cinnamon
1 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 stick butter, softened

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup to 1 cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and set aside. Cut apples into medium wedge slices and sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Place in baking dish. Combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar and softened butter to crumbly texture. Sprinkle over apples and bake for 45 minute to 1 hour or until top is lightly browned. Serve warm with ice cream.

NOTE: If using sweeter apples, reduce or eliminate first sugar coating and add cinnamon to topping instead.
