8 lbs. ripe crab apples
9 c. sugar
2 qt. vinegar
4 sticks cinnamon
1 tbsp. whole cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Do not pare crab apples and leave stems attached. In a saucepan combine vinegar, sugar and spices; boil 5 minutes. Add crab apples and cook slowly until tender. Let stand overnight. In the morning drain off syrup and cook until the consistentcy of honey. Pack crab apples in hot jars and cover with hot syrup. Seal.
