"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 small packages strawberry flavored Jello
1 cup boiling water
2 - 10 oz packages of thawed strawberries, undrained
1 - 20 oz can crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
2 cartons sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add strawberries with juice, drained pineapple and nuts. Divide in half. Put half the mixture into a Pyrex dish, refrigerate until firm. When congealed, spread sour cream over the top of this half. Then pour balance of mixture over all.

Personal Notes:
Editor: I don’t quite understand how the second half of the Jello mixture can still be poured over the top of the sour cream when it was made at the same time as the first half that has congealed. This is taken from a recipe card in Phyllis’s own handwriting.
I believe that the first layer of the salad is made with half of the ingredients, allowed to congeal, before topping with sour cream and the balance of the ingredients in liquid form.
