1/3 c shortening
4 T butter or margarine
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and butter in 8 x 8 pan.
Add cocoa and stir until well blended
Cool. Then beat in vanilla and sugar
Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition
Mix in flour and salt.
Spread evenly in pan
Bake at 325 for 25 minutes
