3 cups sugar
½ cup crisco
1 cup milk
2 sticks butter
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon extract

Recipe gives no instructions for mixing. Assumption: Cream together sugar, crisco and butter. Add milk and eggs. Gradually add flour and other ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1½ hours and do not open door during that time.

Indie was Bertha Richardson's housekeeper. When the Richardson sisters came to visit, our grandmother always purchased a pound cake from Indie to serve while we were there. The date on the recipe is 1968.
