Step 1: Put 36 cookies in a plastic bag, crush with rolling pin. Melt 1 stick of butter, add to cookies, and press to bottom of pan (oblong tin or glass cake pan). Place in freezer.
Step 2: In a double boiler pan melt 4 squares of unsweetened chocolate, 1 cup sugar, 3Tablespoons butter, 2 small cans evaporated milk. Cook until thick (this will take awhile). Let stand to cool. Take 1/2 gallon of vanilla Ice Cream out of freezer while you are making sauce….to soften.
Step 3: Spread Vanilla Ice Cream over cookies, top with Chocolate Sauce and top with chopped Walnuts and Optional whip cream. Place back in freezer till time to serve. Can be made days ahead.
