1 gal. cucumbers, sliced thin (don't peel)
8 onions, sliced thin
2 green or red peppers, sliced thin
½ c. salt

Syrup:
5 c. sugar
½ tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
½ tsp. cloves
3 c. vinegar
2 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Wash cucumbers, onions and peppers. Mix salt with sliced vegetables. Add 1 qt. ice to mixture to make them crisp. Cover and let stand 3 hours. Drain thoroughly. Mix syrup in a saucepan and heat just to boiling point. Add pickles and bring to a boil again. Pack in jars and seal.
