1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
2 T shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp baking powder
Shortening or oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar milk and egg together. Melt shortening and add to first mixture. Add flour salt, baking powder and nutmeg (sifted) Combine the liquid and dry ingredients, stir until smooth drop by teaspoons into deep fat heated to 375º Fry until brown and cooked in the center about 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove and drain on a paper towel, roll in sugar.
