1/2 pounds chopped ham
Eight black peppercorns
Six whole cloves
One Bayleaf
1 teaspoon thyme
Three sprigs parsley
3 diced celery stalks
One diced carrot
One cup canned tomatoes, drained
One diced onion
One minced onion
One and a half tablespoons butter
One small head of cabbage, shredded
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon minced parsley
Caraway seeds
3 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 can evaporated milk
* may substitute Rotel for tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 10 ingredients with 4 quarts water. Simmer for 2 to 3 hours. Sauté onion and cabbage in butter. Add to stock. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 minutes. Add three cans of mushroom soup and one can evaporated milk. Heat and serve with dollop of sour cream and caraway seeds.
