7 pounds cukes
1 gallon water
1 C pickling lime
1 gallon water
1 quart white vinegar
5 C sugar
1 Tbsp celery seed
1 Tbsp whole cloves
1 Tbsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Slice cukes lengthwise and remove seeds then cut these in 2 inch length. Don't use the rind. Use large cukes that are turning yellow. Soak cukes overnight in water and lime (which you can get the lumber yard).

Wash and soak 3 hours in fresh water. Drain.

Next morning, make a mixture of vinegar, sugar, celery seed, cloves and salt.

Pour mixture over cukes. Let stand overnight.

Next day, boil cukes in liquid for 1/2 hour.

Pack in hot jars and seal.
