1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup soft butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

Add 2 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend well on low speed for 1 minute. Add 2 1/2 cups flour a little at a time. Blend at low speed until well mixed.

Chill dough 15-20 minutes before shaping into balls. Place on greased cookie sheet about 2" apart. Flatten balls with a fork. Sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake at 350º for 5-8 minutes until set but not brown. Makes about 4 doz.
