Hamburger Broiled on a Bun Recipe

Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef 2 T very finely chopped onion (omit of using onion gravy) 1 tsp salt dash of pepper 3-4 T butter 2 tsp prepared mustard 4 buns, opened
Mushroom sauce:
½ lb fresh mushrooms, sliced ¼ C butter ¼ C flour 1-1 ½ C milk ¼ tsp salt
Onion Gravy:
6 thick onion slices 2 T butter 2 T flour 1 C water 1 bouillon cube dash of salt

Directions:1. Combine first 4 ingredients; mix well. Form into 8 patties. Soften butter and mix with the mustard.
2. Spread buns with butter mixture. Top with meat patty.
3. Place under preheated broiler rack, about 2" from heat. Broil 4-5 minutes, or until desired doneness. Serve immediately with gravy of your choice. (you might need to turn the burger over during cooking)
Mushroom sauce:
1. Melt butter in top of double boiler over low heat. Add mushrooms. Cover and sauté about 5 minutes. Blend in flour. Add milk gradually, amount depends of desired thickness.
2. Stir over hot water until sauce is thick and smooth; stir constantly. Add salt, if desired.
Onion gravy:
1. Sauté onions in butter about 5 minutes. Do not brown. Lift out and lay on broiled sandwiches.
2. Blend flour into heated butter, add water gradually and continue to stir until mixture boils and thickens. Add seasonings and stir to blend. |

Notes: This is another recipe from the big green cookbook. I love this recipe. We never had leftovers on this dinner. The butter and mustard mixture on the buns, may not be good for you, but is oh so good.
