1/2 cup chopped onion
3 Tbsp butter, melted
2 cans condensed cream of chicken & mushroom soup (or 1 of each)
2 cups (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese (divided use)
1 cup milk
3 1/2 cups chopped cooked chicken (or equivalent amount of canned chicken breast)
2 1/2 cups cooked macaroni (1 cup dry= 2½ cups cooked)
seasoned bread crumbs or crushed Ritz crackers

Directions:
Directions:
Saute' onion in butter in a large skillet or medium saucepan until tender.
Add soup and 1½ cups cheese; gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat until cheese melts. Stir in chicken and macaroni.

Pour mixture into greased 2½ quart casserole; sprinkle with bread crumbs or cracker crumbs. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes.
