Cherry Almond Squares Recipe

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1 - 16 oz cherry pie filling

Frosting:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 T milk
1/2 tsp vanilla (calls for almond, but I use vanilla)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together, add eggs one at a time. Add 3 cups flour, 1 cup at a time. Spread onto sheet cake pan; Mark 5 x 7 (5 short 7 long) Add almond extract to cherries, add two cherries in center of each square. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes. Don't over bake! Shouldn't be brown.

Frosting: Drizzle over completely cooled squares, cut into squared. If you want bigger squares start out scoring a 4X6" instead of 5X7".
