Ingredients: 12 cups Flour 4 cups liquid (water/milk) 1 cake yeast (dissolved in lukewarm water ½ cup) 1¼ Tbsp Shortening 2½ Tbsp Sugar 1½ Tbsp Salt
Preheat oven 425ºF

Directions:Add dissolved yeast, sugar, salt to lukewarm liquid mixture of water and milk. Add half of the flour and beat thoroughly. Add melted shortening and remainder of the flour gradually Mix well and turn our on a flowered board. Knead until the dough becomes elastic to the tough and will stick to board. Place into a greased bowl, cover and allow to rise in a temp of 83º-85ºF until it has doubled in in size (this will take about 2½ hours) Punch down and turn dough over, cover let stand for 30 minutes. Form into loaves of a size that half fills the pan(s). Place in oiled pan and allow to rise until it had doubled its size again. This will bring the top of the dough about even with the edge of the pan. Bake in a 450ºF oven for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temp to 375ºF and cook for 45-60 minutes |
