½ cup and ¼ cup sugar
⅓ cup flour
dash salt
3 eggs separated
? milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
nilla wafers

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Mix ½ cup sugar, flour, and salt into double boiler.
Blend in egg yolks and milk.
Cook uncovered over boiling water for 10-12 minutes until thickened stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add vanilla while stirring.

Spread small amount of custard in bottom of 1½ quart baking dish.
Cover with nilla wafers and sliced bananas.
Pour about ⅓ of custard. Repeat layers - ending with custard.

Beat egg whites on high until soft peaks form then gradually add ¼ sugar and beat until stiff peaks.
spread over pudding, spreading to edges.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly browned.
Cool completely.
