1 T shortening
1 T flour
1 c milk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening in skillet. Add flour. Stir until smooth. Add salt and pepper. Stir until brown. Add milk, continue stirring. When thick enough remove from heat and serve over biscuits. Mom usually increased this recipe by 4 times on all ingredients except salt and pepper.
