Personal Notes:
Aunt Helen and I would pick wild blueberries on the “sands” north of Athabasca. Most of the time, it was just the two of us, so we would solve all the woes of our family members with one rule – what we say in the bush, stays in the bush. Aunt Helen is in her 80’s and each year she would pick about 30-40 ice cream pails of blueberries as she had a lot of customers! A very active lady who grew all of her vegetables, would can or freeze the food and ate organic meat from her daughter’s farm – she and Uncle Dan are two very healthy people with a low grocery bill!
