½ cup Crisco
1 ½ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
1 tbsp vinegar
1 cup buttermilk
2 ¼ cup flour
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsp Nestlé quick
1 tsp soda
½ tsp salt

Icing:
1 stick butter
½ cup Crisco
3 tbsp flour
1 cup sugar
⅔ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Mix color and quick- set aside.

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs, flour, and milk. Mix thoroughly

Add color mix, vanilla, salt, vinegar, and soda.

Mix at high speed for 6 minutes.

Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes.

Icing:

Mix butter, Crisco, flour, and sugar and cream thoroughly.

Add milk and vanilla. Beat at high speed for 8-10 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Spread on cooled cake.
