Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

5 cups flour
2 tsp. salt
⅔ shortening or margarine
5 tsp. baking powder
2 T. sugar

2 tsp. yeast
cup very warm water
2 cups buttermilk (2 cups milk + 2 T. vinegar)

cup butter melted
cup white sugar
cup brown sugar
1 T. cinnamon

1 c powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 3-4 T. milk

Combine, flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. Cut shortening into flour mixture.

Dissove yeast in water and then add warmed buttermilk.

Combine flour mixture with liquid. Knead on lightly foured surface fo about 5 minutes. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours. (I leave overnight and roll out in morning.)

Roll into large rectangle (18x12-inch).

Spread cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. Roll from long end into a log. Slice into 1 inch rolls and place in 9x13 pan. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes.

Spread or drizzle glaze on top of warm cinnamon rolls.
