1c. sugar
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1c. chopped dates
1c. walnuts

3/4 c. flour
1tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

1/2 powder sugar

Directions:
Directions:
oven 350 for 30-40 minutes
8x8 greased pan

Mix top 5 ingredients

sift together the next 3 ingredients

Remove from pan immediately, cut and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Place on wire rack when done.

Nora worked at the insurance company in the shopping center. She and Nana were good friends.
She would always make Nana these bars at Christmas. They were expensive to make and she was not wealthy, so it was a sacrifice for her to make these for Nana and PopPop. However, she knew they loved them.
Nana even offered to buy the ingredients for her one year just so she would make them!
