Personal Notes:
My dad taught me at a very early age how to make his favorite cocktail, the manhattan, exactly the way he liked them. Canadian whiskey was his favorite, usually V.O. Most manhattans call for a 2:1 ratio of whiskey to vermouth, but he liked them very dry, that is four parts whiskey to one part vermouth. The vermouth also had to be Martini and Rossi sweet vermouth, no off brands. When we were out he would order his manhattans up (no ice), but at home he usually had a couple of ice cubes in the drink.
