Hamburger Soup Recipe

1˝ lbs. ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
28 oz. can tomatoes
2 cups water
3 cans beef broth/consommé
1 can tomato soup
4 carrots, finely chopped
3 stalks celery, finely chopped
1 bay leaf
1 tbsp. parsley flakes
8 tbsp. barley (exchange barley for 1 cup macaroni, if desired)
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Brown meat and onions.
2. Drain well on paper towel.
3. In a large pot, add to the beef: canned tomatoes, water, broth, tomato soup, carrots, celery, bay leaf, parsley flakes, barley or macaroni, salt and pepper.
4. Simmer covered at least 2 hours.
5. Remove bay leaf before serving.
