1 cup chopped dates
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon butter
teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat Oven To 350.
In a large bowl, mix dates, butter, salt, and water. Let cool. Add remainder of ingredients into the bowl with the date mixture. Pour into a prepared bread pan and bake for one hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
