4 cups water
2 cups sugar
1 cup cooking oil
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp clover
1 tsp allspice
2 cups raisins
2 tsp soda
5 cups sifted flour
2 cups broken nuts
2 tsp soda

Directions:
Directions:
Combine water, sugar, oil, salt spices and raisins and boil together for 10 minutes. Remove from stove and add 2 tsp soda (while hot) stir well and cool. When thoroughly cool add flour; remaining soda and nuts. Pour into a well-greased pan. Bake at 375º to 350º for 45 minutes. Eat plain or with lemon-flavored icing.
