1 1/4 cup dates (cut up)
1 1/2 cup boiling water
1 tsp soda
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs beaten
2 2/3 cup sifted flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla

Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 small pkg chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl put dates, boiling water and soda, allow to cool, cream together shortening to sugar, add eggs and beat until fluffy, stir in sifted dry ingredients and dates mixture, then vanilla.
Pour into greased, dripper cake pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar, nut and chocolate chips.

Bake at 350º for 40 to 45 minutes
