Ingredients:  
1/2 Cup warm water
2 pkgs. active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
Dissolve sugar in water, sprinkle in yeast. Let stand 10 min. Then stir well.

In a large mixing bowl, put together
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup shortening
Work shortening into flour and sugar mixture until it is crumbly.

In a smaller mixing bowl beat
6 egg yolks
Stir into
4 cups lukewarm water
1 tsp salt
Stir together and add yeast mixture. Stir. Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the flout mixture and stir together. It becomes like a batter. Beat really well, then add enough flour to make a soft dough.. (So it sticks slightly to hands). Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down. Let rise 1 hour then punch down again. Roll out and cut into doughnuts. let rise until double in height. Fry in oil, Sprinkle with sugar or glaze.
