6 Tbsp. Crisco
1 C. sugar
1 egg
1 C. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 C. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
5 heaping Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tsp. salt

Filling:
3/4 C. Crisco
6 Tbsp. marshmallow Fluff
3/4 C. powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Blend together the Crisco, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and add to the creamed ingredients. Spoon onto a greased pan. Bake for 12 minutes. Cool completely before filling. While cakes are baking, make the filling by combining all filling ingredients. Blend until light and fluffy. Put filling on one round at a time; cover with another round.

I remember Mom filling the Whoopie Pies with Poor Man's Frosting. They were just as good and we certainly had no problems scarfing them down!
