1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup Carnation evaporated milk
3 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup pecans

Directions:

Mix at medium temperature until thick (about 12 minutes)
Add pecans - let cool before icing cake.

This recipe is for an authentic German Chocolate cake which has 3 layers with icing on top of each layer only, not the sides.

Our family likes icing on the sides, so I make 1 1/2 of this recipe.
(1 1/2 stick of butter, 5 egg yolks, etc.)
