Streusel Topping #1

¼ Cup butter
¼ Sugar
1 Cup dry bread crumbs
1 Teaspoon cinnamon

¼ Cup butter
¼ sugar
½ Cup flour
1 Teaspoon cinnamon

Apple Upside Down Coffee Cake Topping

3 Tablespoons melted butter
¼ Cup brown sugar
¼ Teaspoon cinnamon
2½ Cups sliced apples


Directions:

Streusel #1

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add dry bread crumbs and cinnamon. Mix till consistency of course crumbs. Sprinkle over cake batter before baking.

Streusel #2

Combine (cut in) butter, sugar, flour and cinnamon till crumbly
Sprinkle evenly over coffee cake batter before baking.

Apple Upside Down Coffee Cake Topping

Melt butter, add brown sugar and cinnamon stir together and spread into bottom of 8 X 8 square cake pan.
Add apples.
Pour cake batter evenly over apples.

Bake at 350º for 45 - 50 minutes. Invert pan onto cooling rack.

When apples were in season, mom (Alice) would make this for Sunday breakfast. Sometimes, she would swap out the apples with canned crushed pineapples. Both are delightful!
